The 2011 GDC Signature Poster

Way back in 2011, when we were still an un-funded non-profit with little to our names but the promise of a 10x10 booth at GDC, my storage locker full of old game equipment, and a half-dozen volunteers, we had a great idea. We printed out this poster, done by Eric Wall for Games Are Evil. We took it to GDC, spread it out on a table with a bunch of Sharpies, and asked attendees to sign where they had worked.

Over the course of our three days displaying at the show, we gathered a couple hundred signatures. Among the folks who signed the poster were David Crane, Alan Miller and dozens of other luminaries from places like id Software, Valve, Crystal Dynamics.

We finally got around to hanging this living document on our walls a the museum. Come down and take a look. There are signatures from all walks of game life, and we even allowed the students from the various games schools sign, as we figured at least some of them would go on to become luminaries of the future. So to everyone who was at GDC 2011 and signed our poster, then wondered what we were going to do with the poster, you now have your answer. We had always planned on hanging it at the museum, the only real change now is that we've given up, for now, on having the money to frame it. Framing this poster would take about 1/4 of a month's rent, and we;re in no financial position to do that right now.

We'll eventually frame it, and hide it behind lasers and glass, but for now, it's out and viewable, and absolutely one-of-a-kind.
